Manila Implements Citywide Early Warning System and Outdoor Warning Sirens for Disaster Preparedness
The City Government of Manila has launched a comprehensive Citywide Early Warning System (EWS) featuring state-of-the-art Telegrafia Pavian electronic outdoor warning sirens to drastically enhance disaster preparedness and public safety. Under the direction of the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the new system is designed to provide immediate, reliable emergency notifications to residents facing natural disasters and urban emergencies.
Strategic Deployment Across High-Risk Zones
The initial rollout prioritizes densely populated districts and vulnerable coastal communities along Manila Bay, which bear the brunt of extreme weather conditions.
Key Installation Sites:
High-power Pavian sirens are strategically stationed at Manila City Hall, the Baseco Evacuation Center, and the Delpan Evacuation Center, alongside other elevated, high-risk points.
All-Hazard Readiness: The early warning matrix serves as a broad defense network capable of broadcasting targeted alerts for typhoons, severe flooding, storm surges, fires, earthquakes, and tsunamis.
