Non-Contact Discharge Radar
RQ-30+
A non-contact radar sensor that measures surface flow velocity and water level simultaneously, computing discharge in real time for channels with a known cross-section profile. Because the sensor never touches the water, it stays operational through debris, sediment, and driftwood — precisely the conditions present during flooding.
Specifications
| Measurement method | Non-contact radar (Doppler velocity + radar level) |
|---|---|
| Outputs | Flow velocity, water level, computed discharge |
| Installation | Overhead mount, no in-stream structural work required |
| Maintenance profile | Low — no submerged or wetted components |
| Typical application | Rivers, open channels, and canals with a known cross-section |
Typical applications
- River and canal discharge monitoring
- Flood early-warning trigger stations
- Irrigation canal flow accounting
- Dam and reservoir inflow measurement
