Non-Contact Discharge Radar

RQ-30+

A non-contact radar sensor that measures surface flow velocity and water level simultaneously, computing discharge in real time for channels with a known cross-section profile. Because the sensor never touches the water, it stays operational through debris, sediment, and driftwood — precisely the conditions present during flooding.

Specifications

Measurement methodNon-contact radar (Doppler velocity + radar level)
OutputsFlow velocity, water level, computed discharge
InstallationOverhead mount, no in-stream structural work required
Maintenance profileLow — no submerged or wetted components
Typical applicationRivers, open channels, and canals with a known cross-section

Typical applications

  • River and canal discharge monitoring
  • Flood early-warning trigger stations
  • Irrigation canal flow accounting
  • Dam and reservoir inflow measurement
